Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Morientes heads to Cottage

Fulham have been linked with former Spain international Fernando Morientes. Roy Hodgson's side are preparing for a Europa League campaign and the former Real Madrid and Liverpool forward could help the squad with his experience of European competition. Morientes, 33, is unattached after scoring just five goals in 16 games for Valencia last season.

Dailly to leave Rangers

Christian Dailly has admitted he may have to continue his career in England following his spell at Rangers. Manager Walter Smith brought the former Scotland international from West Ham on a free in January 2008. "I think the manager would like me back," Dailly said. "But I don't think those decisions will be in his hands because there will be a lot of financial restrictions. I wouldn't rule it out completely but it is unlikely."

Sears loaned out to Eagles

West Ham have loaned young striker Freddie Sears to Crystal Palace for next season. The 19-year-old burst onto the scene in March 2008, scoring the winner on his debut as a substitute in a 2-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers at Upton Park, but has failed to find the net in 28 subsequent appearances.

Davies remains Wanderer

Bolton have warned clubs off making bids for striker Kevin Davies. The 32-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign last season, registering his best goal tally in the Premier League of 12. Davies' former manager at The Reebok, Sam Allardyce, is believed to be interested in linking up with the forward again at Blackburn with a £5 move as Rovers prepare for the imminent departure of Paraguayan Roque Santa Cruz to Manchester City.
