United to offer Athletico Madrid Berbatov bait

Manchester United could be considering a shock offer of forward Dimitar Berbatov as a makeweight in a bid to lure Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero. United are rumoured to have offered £34m and winger Nani but the Spanish side fancy the £30.75m Bulgarian and £17.1m in cash, according to the Spanish daily AS.

Rangers monitor Trezeguet

Rangers have lodged an enquiry for Juventus' World Cup-winning striker David Trezeguet. However, the Frenchman's agent, Antonio Caliendo, has played down the reports linking his client with a move to Ibrox. "Only certain offers can be evaluated." Caliendo said.

Manchester City have confirmed Gelson Fernandes has signed for St-Etienne. The Switzerland international, signed in July 2007 by Sven Göran Eriksson, failed to make an impact under Mark Hughes.

Wigan await permit

Wigan have agreed a fee with Swansea for the signing of striker Jason Scotland. The Trinidad & Tobago international will officially join the Latics once his work permit is renewed.

Jo returns to Goodison

Brazilian striker Jo has joined Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City with an option for it to be made permanent. The Sheffield United right-back Kyle Naughton is also on his way to Goodison Park for £4m. "It's a good deal for the player and the club," said the Blades' club chairman, Terry Robinson.

Real Madrid's sporting director, Miguel Pardeza, has claimed that the club are not interested in luring Cesc Fabregas to the Bernabeu. "He is a great player, there's no doubt about that," Pardeza said. "But at this moment he is not an target for Real Madrid."

Brown loses out

Hull City manager Phil Brown has admitted defeat in his attempt to bring Manchester United's Fraizer Campbell to the KC Stadium. "I'm disappointed," the Tigers coach said. "But I was always nervous about the deal because of the way it was dragging along."

The Arsenal target Udinese's Gökhan Inler has maintained that he is only focused on his current club and will not be drawn into the speculation surrounding his future. "I'm only thinking about Udinese and the rest I leave to my agent," the 25-year old midfielder said.

The Internazionale striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he is content at the Italian giants. "I am happy like the first day I came to Inter," the Swedish forward said.
