January transfer window 2019: Premier League transfer round-up

The Premier League's January transfer window is upon us with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all set to be busy.

Liverpool were the summer's biggest spenders with no fewer than four new arrivals. Goalkeeper Alisson was the headline-grabber with the Brazilian already proving worth every penny of the world-record fee the Reds shelled out for the Brazilian. Could long-term target Nabil Fekir join him next month? United got a couple of new faces in through the door in the summer but it hasn't made a difference with Jose Mourinho out and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in. Will he spend them out of trouble in the January sales?

Chelsea have made the biggest splash with the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic while Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal could all choose to dip their toes in the water as they battle for an all-important top four spot. We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Crystal Palace remain in the hunt for striking reinforcements after a loan move for Dominic Solanke collapsed, boss Roy Hodgson confirmed.

The Eagles have scored just 19 times in 21 Premier League games this season and victory eased Palace's goal worries after a switch for Liverpool's Solanke fell through with concerns over his fitness.

A lot of talk in recent days about the future of Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi after the Blues signed winger Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Hudson-Odoi, who has broken into the first-team squad this season and has made six Premier League appearances, is attracting serious interest from Germany.

A £30m plus add-ons offer has been made by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich according to Sky Sports, with Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Leipzig also keeping tabs on the 18-year-old.

Watford have no interest in selling Abdoulaye Doucoure this month.

The in-form midfielder is catching the eye this season with Paris Saint-Germain particularly interested.

But the Evening Standard say the 26-year-old is staying put, for now at least.

To the south coast, where Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has stated that Jermain Defoe's 18-month loan deal to Rangers is yet to be finalised.

Speaking ahead of his side's FA Cup third round tie against Brighton tomorrow, Howe said: "I'm not going to talk you through any details because no deal has been finalised so until that moment happens it would be foolish of me to comment, so let's wait and see what happens in the next few days."

The 36-year-old, who has scored 162 Premier League goals in his career, joined the Cherries in 2017 but has made only four league appearances this season.

A player who won't be on the move this month is Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

The three-time Champions League winner was rumoured to be interesting Arsenal, but has penned a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2021.

Navas has slipped down the pecking order since Thibaut Courtois' move to Madrid in the summer, but the Costa Rica international has committed his future to the club.

Manchester United are expected to reject any bids for centre-back Eric Bailly this month.

Sevilla are interested in taking the 24-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season, report The Telegraph, but with Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo currently injured, United are reluctant to let the Ivory Coast international go.

Bailly is currently in the middle of a three-match suspension after his sending off against Bournemouth last week.

Some breaking news coming out of Crystal Palace this morning: Jordon Mutch has left the club by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old joined Palace from QPR in 2015 on a four-and-a-half-year contract, but was out on loan at MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps earlier this year.

Mutch hasn't made a Premier League appearance this season, and did not score during his time at Selhurst Park.

Another departure from Crystal Palace was confirmed this morning as Jonny Williams joined Charlton Athletic on a six-month contract.

Williams came through the youth system at Selhurst Park and made a total of 70 appearances for the club.

The 25-year-old has been out on loan to five different clubs since 2013, most recently Sunderland last season.

And after only making a single appearance for the Eagles this season in the League Cup, the Welshman has linked up with Lee Bowyer at the Valley until the end of the season.

Staying in London, QPR are set to offload striker Idrissa Sylla to Belgian club Zulte Waregem.

The 28-year-old is due to undergo a medical today according to Sky Sports

The Guinea international scored 17 goals after joining the club in 2016, but has not appeared for the club in the Championship since August.
