DONE DEALS…
Kyle Naughton is soon to be unveiled as a Swansea player, the Standard reports, after the Welsh club agreed a £5m deal with Tottenham for the 26-year-old. The right-back is believed to have signed a three-and-a-half year contract after Spurs deemed him surplus to requirements behind Kyle Walker and versatile youngster Eric Dier.
Cambridge United have confirmed the signing of Spurs defender Dominic Ball on loan until the end of this season. Ball is yet to make his debut for Tottenham but played 16 times for the under-21 side last season. The 19-year-old will be eligible to play Man United in Friday’s FA Cup match and is seen as a possible future England prospect after switching his allegiance from Northern Ireland.
Ryan Mason has signed a new five-and-a-half year deal with the club after breaking into the Tottenham first time this season. The 23-year-old midfielder has made 18 appearances following loan spells with Swindon, Millwall, Doncaster and Yeovil and the boyhood Spurs fan tweeted today: “I'm delighted to have signed a new contract.. Thank you for all the support and messages! It means a lot.”
BIG SPENDING…
There are rumours of a big-money Spurs swoop for Everton’s highly-rated central midfielder James McCarthy. The Irish 24-year-old became the second-biggest signing in the Toffees’ history when he moved from Wigan at the end of the summer 2013 transfer window. According to the Express, Tottenham will face competition from Manchester United and Arsenal for McCarthy, but Pochettino is hoping for success with a £20m cash-plus-player deal involving either Younes Kaboul or Aaron Lennon.
In a move came very close to happening for Liverpool at this time last year, Tottenham now look favourites to sign the 25-year-old Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka. The reported £7m deal with Dnipro comes in response to a season of disappointing wide-man performances by the likes of Andros Townsend, Eric Lamela and Aaron Lennon.
LOOKING UNLIKELY…
Tottenham had been seen as close to signing the exciting young central midfielder Adrien Rabiot from PSG after the club seemed to sanction letting the French Under-21s international out on short-term loan. They now seem to have changed their minds, however, meaning the 19-year-old will stay put.
