Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The agent of Robert Lewandowski has hinted that the in-form Bayern Munich striker could be interested in a move to Real Madrid next summer.
The Pole has been in brilliant form for Pep Guardiola's side this season, with 19 goals in 17 matches so far, adding another two in a friendly against Iceland on Friday.
With Karim Benzema's future at the club now looking more cloudy after his involvement in the alleged Mathieu Valbuena blackmail case, Real Madrid are looking for a replacement. Cristiano Ronaldo's future is also unclear with president Florentino Perez previously reported to be unhappy at the attitude of his star player.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Perez is not yet ready to get rid of Benzema, but both Lewandowski and Juventus striker Alvaro Morata are increasingly seen as replacements.
The paper state that Real have made two previous informal approaches for Lewandowski, 27, once while he was still at Borussia Dortmund and also last summer.
But Lewandowski's agent, Cezary Cucharsky, has further complicated the situation for Bayern.
"You cannot deny that there is interest from Real Madrid," he said.
Lewandowski has also admitted that he is learning Spanish but said: "There has been no contact over the past few months."
