From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea are expected to continue their pursuit of Paul Pogba up until the close of the transfer window as they attempt to convince Juventus to sell.
Jose Mourinho is understood to be desperate to sign the France international, particularly in light of Chelsea's stuttering start to the campaign.
It's also reported that there are fears that Barcelona could move for the 22-year-old once their transfer embargo is lifted in January.
The Blues may have won at West Brom on Sunday, but only after a back-to-the-walls performance after a red card for John Terry. Since convening for pre-season training there have been no clean sheets and seven goals have been conceded in just three Premier League games.
It is not just the defenders that are a concern but the protection they are getting from the midfield. Nemanja Matic's abilities are unquestioned, but Cesc Fabregas has come in for criticism this term for his inability to defend.
Pogba's pace, strength in the tackle and ability on the ball would form a perfect union with Matic’s reading of the play and positional sense.
