Parker and Drogba at top of Redknapp's summer shopping list

Harry Redknapp is confident of landing his summer transfer targets regardless of Champions League qualification and has hinted at Didier Drogba and Scott Parker as players he is monitoring.

Redknapp, whose Tottenham Hotspur team will move into fourth place today if they defeat West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane, feels potential signings will not be put off even if Manchester City pip them to the final place in Europe's elite club competition.

"People say 'if we get in the Champions League we'll buy some great players' but if you don't buy some great players you won't get in the Champions League," said the Tottenham manager. "That's how it works. And people would come here anyway. If you pay them the wages they'll come. We all kid ourselves: 'I've wanted to play for Tottenham since I was two, I had pictures of Jimmy Greaves on my wall.' It's a load of bull. Here's £80,000 a week. Lovely jubbly!"

Redknapp tried to buy England midfielder Parker, the Football Writers' Association player of the season, at the start of the season and will lead the queue if West Ham United fail to escape relegation.

"If they don't stay up they've got a problem keeping the Footballer of the Year," he said. "He's a real proper pro, proper good bloke, family man, role model, not a minute's problem, gets on with it. We liked him but I don't think we ever got close really, £15m was a lot of money for his age. If they go down, is he going to play in the Championship next year? I wouldn't have thought so. I don't know but it isn't going to be £15m, is it? He wants to play for England. It is going to be hard for him."

Drogba's future at Chelsea has also appeared uncertain and Redknapp admitted the Ivory Coast international would interest plenty of teams if he became available.

He said: "Drogba is still a fantastic player. Who knows, its up to Chelsea what they do but he's been a great player for them for sure. He's a good player, a handful for any defence. He's a fantastic centre-forward with power, strength, he's got everything.

"He scores goals. He plays for Chelsea and until they decide otherwise, you can't speculate about his future. But he's a good player."

Spurs winger Gareth Bale took a knock to the knee in the draw against Arsenal and is struggling to play today.
