The Portugal international spent the season on loan with his former Portuguese employers and enjoyed a decent season that included four goals in the Champions League.
Despite the 28-year-old proving he still has something to offer, it's understood that Nani does not figure in Louis van Gaal's plans for next season. The Dutchman already has many options in wide areas, with Ashley Young enjoying a particularly impressive season and Angel Di Maria expected to improve next term.
A permanent switch to Sporting Lisbon seemed the obvious next step for Nani, however reports in Portugal suggest he will say his goodbyes to fans of the side that finished third in the Primeira Liga during a signing session today.
Inter Milan are rumoured to be lining up a £7.3m bid that they hope will be enough for Manchester United to sanction Nani's sale, despite the player having a contract at Old Trafford until 2018.
