Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Morgan Schneiderlin has told friends that he would prefer to work with Arsene Wenger at Arsenal than Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, according to reports.
It what has been one of the biggest transfer sagas this summer, United appeared to be in the driving seat to sign the much-coveted French midfielder last week, until their bid of £20m was rejected.
The Sunday Times have reported that the 25-year-old feels that Arsenal's more settled style of play is better suited to his game, and he would also like to remain in the South of England, meaning United are his clear second choice behind Arsenal.
Unlike United, however, Arsenal have yet to make a bid, with Southampton holding out for £25m.
Schneiderlin joined the Saints from RC Strasbourg in 2008, and has since turned into one of the best midfielders in Europe.
Schneiderlin had previously said that he would only leave Southampton to play for a team in the Champions League. United will return to Europe's elite competition next season if they get past their play-off round, while Arsenal are already into the group stage.
"Of course the Champions League is my goal. If I leave Southampton it will be for a club in the Champions League," he had said.
