The 22-year-old has scored 21 goals in 46 appearances for the French club and was subject to intense speculation linking him with a move to White Hart Lane in the January transfer window.
Despite Marseille’s insistence to the contrary, Belgian international Batshuayi appears likely to join Spurs for £25m at the end of the summer, according to the Metro. Mauricio Pochettino, the Tottenham manager, has been desperate to sign attacking cover for months but failed with a long-term pursuit of West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino.
The Argentine has managed to spearhead a stunning title challenge without securing extra fire-power, however, with the North London outfit just five points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City.
Pochettino wanted to reunite Harry Kane with his former England under-21s strike partner and is waiting for news from the Spurs hierarchy.
Tottenham were prepared to spend up to £23m six months ago but they now believe the moment has been lost. The 22-year-old has been subject to interest from Stoke City and Newcastle United in recent weeks.
