This summer’s longest-running transfer saga may finally be coming to a conclusion.

Manchester United have a clear run at Paul Pogba and, as The Independent understands, will bid £100m for the Juventus midfielder imminently.

Real Madrid are not in the race for Pogba, as he “does not fit the profile of player” generally favoured by Florentino Perez, the club’s president.

With no other clubs sniffing around the France international, United are free to fork out a world record transfer fee and meet his £250,000-a-week salary.

What’s more, according to widespread reports in Italy, Pogba has now informed Juventus that he wants to leave the club.

“Dear Juve, let me go away,” reads the front page of La Gazzetta dello Sport, which also claims that Pogba’s representatives have already agreed terms with United.

Elsewhere, Manchester City’s opening £10m offer for Reece Oxford is set to be rejected, according to the Daily Express.

West Ham United will rebuff Pep Guardiola’s initial advances for the talented 17-year-old midfielder, allowing United more time to prepare their own bid.

Onto outgoings; it is expected that James Wilson, Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Varela will leave Old Trafford, having not travelled with the United squad for the pre-season tour of China.

Wilson started Saturday’s 2-0 friendly win at Wigan Athletic but was left behind by Jose Mourinho, who preferred to take Will Keane in attack.

Juan Mata told supporters on Sunday not to believe everything they read, yet he himself may be hoping that the Daily Mail are wrong when they claim he will be one of three first-teamers out the door this summer.

Daley Blind, Morgan Schneiderlin and Marcos Rojo are also alleged to be on their way out of Old Trafford.
