Manchester United are still yet to make any additions to their senior squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, but that is not to say they are content with their current lot.

Although Dean Henderson has returned to Old Trafford following an impressive loan spell at Sheffield United, there have been no new arrivals ahead of the 12 September top-flight start date, but it seems moves are being made behind the scenes.

Here is the latest transfer news and rumours for United.

Bid made for Juventus’ Douglas Costa

United have reportedly made a €30 million (£27m) bid for Douglas Costa.

Juventus have rejected that bid, according to Corriere dello Sport in Italy, as the Serie A champions want around €10m (£9m) more.

Winger Douglas could represent an alternative wide option, with Jadon Sancho’s move from Borussia Dortmund looking increasingly unlikely.

Sancho’s team-mates confident he’ll stay

On that note, Sancho’s team-mates at Borussia Dortmund are certain the 20-year-old will remain with the Bundesliga club for at least one more year.

The England winger’s involvement and attitude in pre-season training have convinced his fellow BVB players that they’ll enjoy his company for a little while longer, thus United’s interest in Costa.

That’s per The Telegraph, and – of course – the recent revelation that Dortmund secretly extended Sancho’s contract until 2023 has dented United’s hopes for the time being, too.

Time running out in pursuit of Gabriel

Arsenal are on the brink of signing Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes and hope to complete the €30m (£27m) deal early next week, with United stalling over their renewed interest in the Brazilian.

United contacted Magalhaes’ representatives late last week, just as Arsenal had grown increasingly confident of winning the race for the defender, provoking a further delay to the saga as talks continued between Magalhaes’ camp and both clubs.

However, The Independent understands that, while United continue to ask Gabriel’s camp to delay his decision, they are still yet to lodge an official bid with Lille, meaning they are set to miss out on the 22-year-old as things stand.

Wonderkid joins United’s academy

As afore-mentioned, there have been no additions to United’s first-team squad, but the club have reportedly secured the services of 16-year-old Isak Hansen-Aaroen.

The highly-rated forward’s recent first-team debut at Tromso at the age of 15 made him the youngest person to ever play for the club.

He will join United’s academy and he’s worth keeping an eye on for the future.

Maguire returns to Manchester

Okay, so this one isn’t actually transfer news, but it does see an expensive defender making his way to Old Trafford...

United have confirmed that Harry Maguire has pleaded not guilty to charges following an alleged altercation with police while on holiday in Mykonos.

The club captain has been released from police custody pending a hearing that will be heard on the island of Syros on Tuesday.

Maguire will be represented at the hearing by his legal team, leaving him free to travel back to Manchester this weekend.
