Manchester United are preparing a £65million bid for disaffected Eden Hazard after their attempts to bring Gareth Bale to Old Trafford were knocked back, according to the Daily Star.

That’s right, no-goals-in-26-games, playing-like-a-drain Eden Hazard. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, however, still stand in Ed Woodward’s way.

“The club has to be realistic and realise that signing Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo remains a long shot, which means alternative targets come into the equation,” says an inside source quoted by the Star.

“Eden Hazard is certainly one of those and the type of player United need if they want to start winning trophies again.”

Romelu Lukaku is the other big name linked with Old Trafford this morning.

The Daily Mirror report that Everton’s in-form striker was a United target last summer, only for Louis van Gaal to ultimately decide against moving for the Belgium international.

The 22-year-old’s scoring form this term, with 12 goals in his last 12 games, has convinced the club’s hierarchy to push for his signing in the summer, despite Everton’s reticence to let their player go.

Renato Sanches, anyone? He’s a young midfielder currently playing for Benfica, although according to reports in Portugal, he may not be at Estadio da Luz much longer.

The 18-year-old has, according to Metro, been scouted twice in the past week by the club’s recruitment team and impressed in Tuesday night’s 6-0 win over Maritimo.

And finally, an old favourite, Felipe Anderson.

According to The Sun, Lazio are becoming impatient with United’s tip-toeing around their attacking midfielder and have, in rather crude terms, told their potential clients to “man up” and make their move.

The Serie A club want north of £30million for the Brazilian, whose form has been affected by the speculation. He was subbed off at half-time during the club’s recent 0-0 draw against newly-promoted Carpi on Wednesday.
