Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Man United penalty confusion after draw at Wolves

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no plan to replace Alexis Sanchez if the forward leaves Manchester United in the coming weeks.

Internazionale are interested in signing United’s highest-earning player on loan with a view to buy, though his basic salary of more than £350,000-a-week has proved problematic.

Sanchez is eager to leave for Italy but Inter and United are yet to reach an agreement in negotiations.

Solskjaer confirmed talks were being held with interested parties earlier this week, and said on Friday that he had spoken with the 30-year-old Chilean about a potential move.

However, the United manager has no intention of entering the free agent market to add to his squad if Sanchez does depart.

“We are not looking at any more signings,” Solskjaer said on Friday, having given his opinion on why Sanchez has struggled at United.

“[Sanchez] is a quality player, I have said it so many times. There are times when you go through spells with injuries,” he said.

“He has had so many injuries like niggles, and there is no 100 per cent fact why this or why that.

“Sometimes it just clicks and you go into a vein of form you score, your confidence grows and it will hit anyone’s confidence when you don’t really perform.”
