Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp 'will move for £20m winger Julian Brandt' in the summer

Liverpool's interest in signing a winger shows no sign of abating, with the club being heavily linked with German youngster Julian Brandt.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp will have to wait until the summer to sign the £20m-rated international with his club Bayer Leverkusen unwilling to sell in January.

Brandt is reported to have a £17m release clause which can be triggered in 2018, so the German club are likely to want to offload him sooner if they can secure a higher fee.

As we reported last week, the 20-year-old is one of six wingers who would suit Liverpool's system, with Klopp having been vocal about wanting to strengthen in that area.

If nothing comes of the Brandt transfer, then another man being linked with a switch to anfield is Spanish international Jese Rodriguez.

The 23-year-old only joined French champions PSG but has already fallen out of favour with manager Unai Emery who hinted last week that he could leave.

The Sun reports that both Jese and Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak have now been transfer listed, putting a number of Premier League clubs on alert.

Jurgen Klopp is keeping tabs on Juventus youngster Francesco Cassata, according to TuttoSport. The 19-year-old midfielder is out on loan at Serie B side Ascoli who have a buy option on the player. Nevertheless, Klopp is said to be willing to spend €10m (£8.6m) to bring him to Anfield.

Lucas Leiva has admitted that his situation at Liverpool is "not great", increasing speculation that he will leave in January.

"The situation is not great," the Brazilian midfielder told reporters. "It is not something I want for my future, to have not many games.

"I don't want this for my career, especially at my age. I'm not close to retiring and have many years ahead of me."
