Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Merseyside club have been scouting Kessie on a regular basis throughout this season and his recent run of exceptional form has caught the attention of those at Anfield, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Kessie has attracted interest from Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotpsur, so Jurgen Klopp may face competition in his reported pursuit of the playmaker.
Klopp’s links with Borussia Dortmund have fast-tracked his side in the pursuit to sign Christian Pulisic, reports the Daily Mirror. Arsenal have also been chasing the 18-year-old, but the Dortmund bosses are not keen on allowing him to leave for the Emirates.
The United States international has scored two goals and assisted four in his last 10 Bundesliga appearances for the Westphalia side.
With Klopp declaring that Mamadou Sakho is no longer part of his first-team plans, the French defender is left with a choice of either leaving Anfield or relentlessly battle to redeem the coaches respect.
The 26-year-old believes he can show his ability and be a key element to the side, but Klopp thinks otherwise. Both AC Milan and Inter Milan appear excited about the prospect of the French powerhouse joining their side in the Italian league.
