Christian Benteke is willing to cut his losses at Liverpool and could join Crystal Palace, according to reports.

The 25-year-old striker struggled to hold down a place in Jurgen Klopp’s first team last season and failed to convince his manager that he suited the team’s style of play.

Benteke, who is currently on international duty with Belgium at the European Championships, is behind Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi in Anfield’s striking pecking order.

The signing of Sadio Mané, whose £30million arrival from Southampton was confirmed earlier this week, will only increase competition in Klopp’s front line.

According to the Daily Mirror, Benteke is ready to admit that his time at Anfield is up. Alan Pardew’s Palace are interested, despite the striker’s sizeable salary of £120,000-a-week.

Liverpool will reportedly demand £30m for the Belgium international in an attempt to recoup the vast majority of their outlay on the player.

Benteke became Liverpool’s second most-expensive signings ever following his £32.5million move from Aston Villa and scored 10 goals in 42 appearances for his new club last season.

It was rumoured that the 25-year-old frontman would be offered an escape route by West Ham United.

David Sullivan, the east London club’s co-owner, admitted that he ‘admired’ the striker in March but also believed that the club would be unable to meet his wage demands.

That same month, Benteke publicly questioned Klopp's treatment of him and claimed he could not understand why his manager was ignoring him.

"Some team-mates have said that I was lucky with the arrival of Klopp, because I certainly would play," he told Belgium's Sport/Voetbalmagazine at the time.

"When your coach says he wanted to take you to Dortmund and a little later you sit at the same club and he ignores you it is hard to understand."
