LIVERPOOL BOUND...

Liverpool are in for Saido Berahino and will be encouraged by news the striker is unsettled at West Brom. The Independent's Sam Wallace reports that the Baggies are ready to take £20m for the 21-year-old. It has been indicated that Berahino’s refusal to celebrate any of his four goals against Gateshead in the FA Cup third-round 7-0 win on Saturday was an expression of the situation he finds himself in at West Bromwich, even though the club’s new manager, Tony Pulis, said otherwise after the match. More on that story here.

Signing Berahino is not the answer though, according to Phil Thompson. The former Liverpool captain is setting his sights much higher. "I think that Liverpool need someone who is a bit more established and who has played at a higher level like Gonzalo Higuain or Ezequiel Lavezzi."

Tottenham are also interested in Berahino, just as they are in another Liverpool target, Fabian Delph. Apparently both clubs are ready to offer £3m for the midfielder and see if Aston Villa take the bait.

With Simon Mignolet flapping at whatever comes his way and Brad Jones out injured, Liverpool are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper. News that Neto, the Brazilian stopper who plays for Fiorentina, won't be signing a new contract is being reported as a boost for the Reds. The 25-year-old has been regularly linked with a switch to Anfield and with his agent confirming he is ready to leave the Serie A side, he is free to talk to new clubs now.

THE DEAL'S OFF...

The proposed signing of Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri has hit the rocks with Inter Milan beating Liverpool to his signature, according to Talksport. It's reported that the Switzerland international will move to the Italian club on loan before joining on a permanent deal in the summer for £12m.

BYE BYE...

It's not only Steven Gerrard departing in the summer. Suso is also out of contract in the summer and according to the latest reports in Italy the Spanish winger has already signed a pre-contract with another club. He's heading to AC Milan.
