Liverpool transfer news: Bayern Munich yet to receive Thiago Alcantara approach, claims Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
The Spain midfielder, 29, is set to leave the European champions this summer
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge concedes Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara appears set to leave the club.
The Spanish midfielder, 29, has one year remaining on his contract with the Champions League winners.
The Bundesliga giants want £29m to sell and the Reds have been closely linked with a move to upgrade Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.
But Rummenigge maintains there has been no approach yet from the Premier League champions.
“We always read a lot about Liverpool, but they haven’t contacted us yet,” he told Bild.
“Yesterday we had the meeting with our employees and his whole family was there, and they wandered around the square in great nostalgia [at the Allianz Arena], I would say.
“It looked a lot like goodbye, as if he had made up his mind.”
While Hansi Flick admitted he is in the dark as to where Thiago’s future lies following victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
Flick said: “I don’t know and he doesn’t know yet either [where his future lies], because we all focused on this Champions League final.
“I think we will have to wait what the following days will bring.”
