Monaco forward Thomas Lemar has for the first time expressed his regret and disappointment at not joining either Liverpool or Arsenal last summer and admitted he hope the Premier League duo come back in for him.

The 22-year-old looked all set to replace the then Manchester City-bound Alexis Sanchez on the final day of the window last summer only for the £92m move to fall through at the 11th hour.

Lemar, who impressed when helping Monaco to the Champions League semi-finals last season, is tied to the club until June 2020 but is also on Liverpool’s radar as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

“Regrets? Maybe. I was a little disappointed,” he told Telefoot. “Once it's over, it's over, so do not think about it.

“I will keep working hard so these clubs will eventually come back in the next transfer window. I am open to all offers. I am a football player, I like football. I do not close any door."
