Leeds transfer news: Whites tried to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani in January
Owner Andrea Radrizzani pushed for a blockbuster signing in January to secure promotion to the Premier League
Leeds United failed in an audacious attempt to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January.
Marcelo Bielsa has guided the Whites to the brink of promotion to the Premier League and now owner Andrea Radrizzani has now revealed he held talks with the Swede before he ultimately opted to rejoin AC Milan.
“I spoke with Zlatan Ibrahimovic more concretely,” Radrizzani told Gianluca Di Marzio.
“He could have given us that decisive push but he decided to go to AC Milan. He has been very honest and transparent with me.
“We need to be rational and coherent with the strategy of both coach and team.
“I did not even speak with Marcelo Bielsa about [PSG striker Edinson] Cavani and Ibrahimovic because we never got to the stage that we could sit down and talk about them.”
