From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The 31-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Tottenham Hotspur after the close of the last transfer window and Togo international is believed to be desperate to restart his career.
Adebayor left the club when his deal was terminated by mutual consent but Tottenham have continued to pay his £100,000-a-week wages.
Alan Pardew’s side have struggled for goals in recent weeks, failing to win in six and scoring only once in those fixtures with an own goal from the boot of Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen.
The former Arsenal and Manchester City striker has not appeared in the Premier League since last May and, although he has been using a personal trainer to stay fit, his readiness will be tested in a side desperate for a regular scorer.
Pardew, however, recently revealed he has no concerns about the striker, given his ability and pedigree.
“Whenever he has played against me he has been totally committed and he is a dangerous world player,” he said.
“You have only got to look at his clubs. For whatever reason there has been a fall-out at Spurs but he remains a player that can have great impact and would improve us.
“And I have had difficult players before, non-more difficult than Hatem Ben Arfa at Newcastle. If I can deal with him, I can deal with Adebayor for sure.”
