Beating Manchester United to the punch with the news, Ajax have just confirmed Daley Blind has officially left them to sign for United. The news proved too explosive for their server to bear and Ajax's website crashed.

United had a agreed a fee for the player over the weekend, worth a reported £14m.

His new team-mate, Juan Mata, had earlier revealed that the transfer was complete on his latest blog entry, which was published today.

"As you read this, many things are happening before the transfer window expires today," he wrote.

"We already know what Angel is capable of, his ability and dribbling skills, and Daley has a great touch and is very intelligent, as he showed during the World Cup."

The 24-year-old Blind has made 19 appearances for the Dutch national team, and impressed at left-back during the recent World Cup.
