Chelsea’s move for Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato will likely decide Loic Remy’s future at Stamford Bridge, with the France international wanted by fellow Premier League club Newcastle.

Remy has struggled for first-team football with the Blues since completing a move from Queens Park Rangers in 2014, and he could be allowed to leave this month providing Guus Hiddink is able to bring in cover for the striker.

The move for Pato remains in the balance amid conflicting reports in recent weeks, although the former AC Milan forward is determined to secure a move back to Europe with the Premier League his preferred destination.

The Telegraph reports that Pato is on the verge of sealing a loan move to Chelsea on wages near the £40,000-a-week mark, despite Corinthians’ preference to sell the striker on a permanent deal worth around £10m. It’s believed that the loan agreement which runs until the end of the season will include a clause that will allow Chelsea to sign the striker at any time during his stay in London.

Should he join the club before Monday’s transfer deadline, it’s believed that the Blues will give Remy the green light to discuss a move to Newcastle providing the Magpies make an official move for the striker.

Remy could also move on loan, with Hiddink informing the player that he would see an increase in the first-team opportunities that he was being afforded this season.

Ramires continues to be linked with a big-money move to China with Jiangsu tipped to be willing to spend over £20m for the Brazil midfielder, who is yet to make a single Premier League start since Hiddink replaced Jose Mourinho in December.

January Transfer window - completed deals

Despite being a firm favourite among the Stamford Bridge faithful – largely due to his beautiful finish against Barcelona on their march to the winning the Champions League final – it appears that Ramires will be allowed to leave the club, and he will become the latest in a long line of Brazilians to make the move to the Far East.

But with The Telegraph are reporting that Jiangsu will pay up to £25m for the 28-year-old, which would see Chelsea make a profit on the £19m they spent on the midfielder in 2010.

Ramires only signed a new four-year contract at Stamford Bridge last summer, but the Express claims that the offer has already been agreed and talks have started over his Chelsea departure.

Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Christian Atsu will be formerly unveiled as a Malaga player this afternoon after agreeing a loan move until the end of the season with the La Liga club.
