The £10m arrival of Petr Cech has seen the Poland international fall even further down the Arsenal pecking order having seen his first-team place go to David Ospina in January this year. With Szczesny facing a battle for his Arsenal future, manager Arsene Wenger stressed that he wants to maintain faith in the 25-year-old and give him a chance to prove himself in the form of a loan spell to a top European club.
Having touched down at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, Szczesny will finalise the move today after confirming everything was in place for the move on Sunday night.
Szczesny appeared with an AS Roma scarf at the airport as he made his way through baggage collection, although he made the cardinal sin of wearing sunglasses inside.
A number of Italian journalists and Roma fans turned out to greet the Arsenal man, and he wore a big smile before stopping in front of photographers to give the thumbs up with the scarf now draped around his neck.

Taking to his Instagram account on Sunday, Szczesny confirmed in Italian that he was heading to Rome, and expressed his delight ahead of the move to the Italian capital.
“Good evening Giallorossi! I am very happy, because I am going to Roma tomorrow. I'll see you soon,” Szczesny said.
