Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Real Madrid have offered Argentina winger Angel Di Maria to Manchester United for a price of £40m.
The 26-year-old is currently trying to agree a new deal but talks have stalled with claims that the Argentine is being too greedy.
The European champions have decided to test the market for Di Maria and have contacted United, according to the Daily Star. United are interested in Di Maria but are believed to value him closer to £30m.
Di Maria is not thought to be overly keen on missing out on Champions League football next season and Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are all monitoring the situation.
Real could use any money from the sale of Di Maria to fund a bid for Monaco and Colombia star James Rodriguez.
With new boss Louis van Gaal charged with taking United straight back into the Champions League, the club have already spent £60m on two new players this summer, with Ander Herrera arriving from Athletic Bilbao and Luke Shaw arriving from Southampton.
