Arsenal could miss out on Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria as Paris Saint-Germain move to the front of the queue for his signature, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to add another marquee signing to the squad to follow the £42.5 million acquisition of Mesut Özil last season, and Di Maria is reported to be among his top targets along with Mathieu Debuchy and Mario Balotelli.

The Argentina international, who scored an extra-time winner against Switzerland in the World Cup last-16 clash, was a pivotal part of Real Madrid's season as they won their first Champions League title since 2002, thus enabling them to finally lay claim to 'La Decima' - their 10th European title.

Marca claim that Di Maria held talks with senior officials at the club before the World Cup and asked the club to prove that he is key player at the club by handing him an improved contract.

However, he is yet to be offered improved terms on his current deal which still has four years to run, leaving the 25-year-old to consider his options at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Di Maria would reportedly be allowed to leave if Real Madrid received a fee similar to what Arsenal paid for Ozil a year ago in the region of £40 million, giving them a healthy profit on the £25 million they paid Benfica four years ago.

And while a move to North London would appeal to the former Benfica midfielder with regular football guaranteed, PSG's ability to offer a bumper wage package could blow the Gunners out of the water.
