Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel aimed a parting shot at loan flop Adnan Januzaj as the winger returned to Manchester United.

Januzaj, 20, failed to start a Bundesliga game in his brief stay in Germany, starting only three games in the Europa League. He made 12 appearances in total, failing to score and adding two assists, but nine of those matches came from the bench.

The Belgian returned to Old Trafford earlier this week after his season-long loan spell was ended prematurely.

Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Tuchel said that Januzaj didn't show the "desire and attitude" to be a success.

"It is a pity he did not show the desire and attitude you need to progress at his age," he said.

"My feeling was that he never was completely with us, that a part of him always stayed in Manchester and he compared everything here with United.

"We were not able to help him to shake that off."

Manchester United manager, under pressure because of his team's woefully boring style of play, will bring Januzaj back into the first-team fold soon.

He is expected to play in an Under-21 game on Monday night and should be available for selection next week, when United travel to Newcastle on Tuesday and bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
