From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Hull midfielder Bullard could join Celtic on loan as City look to reduce their wage bill following their relegation to the npower Championship.
The 31-year-old has returned to Glasgow to visit Celtic's Lennoxtown training complex.
Ledley, who would be able to sign for Celtic for free under cross-border transfer rules following the expiry of his Cardiff contract, also flew in to Glasgow for a second visit.
The 23-year-old winger has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, West Brom and Stoke, who would have to pay compensation to the Bluebirds.
His agent, David Baldwin, told BBC Scotland: "At the moment we're just having a look around, simple as that.
"There's a few places that we've wanted to have a look at. It's early days yet, we'll see."
Lennon has signed full-backs Charlie Mulgrew and Cha Du-Ri, a South Korea international, since being confirmed as Celtic manager.
