Robert Lewandowski’s goal-scoring spree goes on for rampant Bayern Munich in Champions League

The Poland international now has 10 goals in his last three games

Bayern Munich tightened their grip on Arsenal’s group and Robert Lewandowski took his tally to an incredible 10 goals in three games as they thrashed Dynamo Zagreb 5-0 last night.

Pep Guardiola’s side raced into a four-goal lead by the 28th minute against the Croatians, who had beaten Arsenal in the first round of games in Group F.

Douglas Costa got the first, scoring at the near post after a surging run down the left, before Lewandowski tapped into an empty net to make it 2-0.

Mario Götze added a third four minutes later after a slick exchange of passes with Kingsley Coman, then Lewandowski scored again with a neatly controlled volley from 10 yards.

The Poland international striker completed his hat-trick 10 minutes into the second half with a turn and chip after being set up by Thiago Alcantara’s superb backheel.

Holders Barcelona needed two goals in the final 10 minutes to come from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 at the Nou Camp.

Barça, without the injured Lionel Messi, fell behind in the 22nd minute when Kyriakos Papadopoulos flicked a corner over the flailing arms of Marc-André ter Stegen and it drifted in at the far post.

The home side fought back and a deflected Neymar shot came off the post and a Sandro Ramirez follow-up was blocked on the line by Papadopoulos as Leverkusen hung onto their lead.

After the break the chances began to pile up for Barça, with Sandro and Neymar firing wide while Gerard Pique headed at the goalkeeper when well placed.

The home side lost Andres Iniesta to injury but just when it seemed as though they would slump to their second defeat in a week, Sergi Roberto poked in a rebound from close range. Two minutes later Luis Suarez produced a clinical finish, sending a rising right-foot shot into the top corner to complete Barcelona’s fightback.

Also in Group E, Bate Borisov held off a late Roma recovery to beat the Serie A team 3-2.

Igor Stasevich gave the Belarusian side the lead with a close-range header in the eighth minute before a bad error from Roma keeper Wojciech Szczesny, on loan from Arsenal, gifted Filip Mladenovic a second with a 30-yard shot four minutes later. Mladenovic got a third after half an hour.

Gervinho gave Roma hope by pulling one back with 24 minutes to go, then Vasilis Torosidis grabbed a second in the 82rd minute. Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi also hit the bar late on but Bate hung on for a famous victory.

In Chelsea’s group, Dynamo Kiev beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-0, the visitors easing to victory thanks to Andrei Yarmolenko’s fourth-minute strike and a Moraes goal just after the break.
