Unai Emery has revealed the style of Arsenal’s play is one of the biggest reasons why he chose to join the club as Arsene Wenger’s successor.
The Gunners officially announced Emery on Wednesday morning after the Spaniard’s official website accidentally published an image of him with the Arsenal badge and the quote “proud to be part of the Arsenal family”, although it was later deleted.
The 46-year-old was chosen over early frontrunner Mikel Arteta for his greater experience, having won three consecutive Europa League titles – a competition Arsenal are competing in next season – with Sevilla as well as a domestic treble with Paris Saint-Germian.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Emery said: “I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game. Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run.
“I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history. I have met Stan and Josh Kroenke and it’s clear they have great ambitions for the club and are committed to bringing future success.
“I’m excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories.”
