From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Martio Balotelli starts for Liverpool against Tottenham today to make his debut for the club after his £16m switch from AC Milan last week.

It marks the maverick Italian striker's return to the Premier League. He played for Manchester City for three years between 2010 and 2013, scoring 30 goals in 80 appearances for City, winning the Premier League title with the club in 2012.

After signing for Brendan Rodgers' side, Balotelli said: "I'm happy to be back because I left England and it was a mistake. I wanted to go to Italy but I realised it was a mistake."

He leads the line today with Daniel Sturridge.

Tottenham: Lloris; Dier, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose; Bentaleb, Capoue; Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela; Adebayor.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Manquillo, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Henderson, Gerrard, Allen, Sterling, Sturridge, Balotelli
