Tottenham striker Harry Kane says he feels the team are finally in a good place to challenge for major honours, largely thanks to the presence of manager Jose Mourinho.

Prior to the Portuguese boss’ appointment, Spurs reached the Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino, but quickly lost form afterwards and regularly failed to sustain title challenges domestically.

Their last trophy - their only piece of silverware in this century - was the League Cup in 2008, while their last league title win came in 1961.

Kane, who has been in incredible form at the start of the 2020/21 season, feels that there are still aspects of the team’s game to work on, but they are heading in the right direction and are capable of tasting success.

“We have got players who have won things in the changing room, we have got good experience in the changing room, good leaders in the changing room, and I feel like we are at a place now where if we get it right mentally, we can achieve things, but we are not getting carried away,” he told Spurs TV.

"Obviously Jose is a winner at every level, he has come in with that aura about him and he wants to win things here.

"It is just installing that confidence into the team, he is a great man, with great experience, so [that] us as players can only look at that and take confidence from that.

"We have had a great relationship since he walked through the door."

Spurs currently sit second in the Premier League during the international break, after a weekend win over West Brom where Kane netted the winner.

The striker is now on international duty with England, where the Three Lions face Ireland in a friendly first of all on Thursday evening.
