Tottenham news: Danny Rose agrees new five-year contract, hopes to become 'old man' at the club

Danny Rose is looking forward to growing "old" with Tottenham after signing a new five-year contract.

The 26-year-old left-back, who has committed his future to Spurs until 2021, moved to White Hart Lane from Leeds nine years ago and has since made 93 league appearances, scoring seven goals.

Rose becomes the sixth player to sign a new long-term deal in north London of late, following Tom Carroll, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen and Harry Winks, while Dele Alli is now tied up until 2022.

Rose has been out of Mauricio Pochettino's side since August due to a hamstring injury but could return on Saturday when Tottenham face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Defender Rose made his England debut in March's 3-2 win over Germany in Berlin and, having featured at Euro 2016, has won eight national caps.

Speaking to Spurs TV, he said: "We all want to go out and prove that last season was not a one-off with us finishing third.

"Right now I am so happy, I am settled here, I am slowly turning into a southerner so I hope I can stay for a very long time and see where it takes me.

"At the minute I wouldn't wish for anything more than to play for Spurs for the rest of my career.

"It's been a great couple of weeks for the club with Dele, Eric, Christian and Harry Winks all signing contracts.

"Everyone knows that the club is going in the right direction and I'm over the moon that I'll stay here until I'm an old man!"
