From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Theo Walcott is in line for a fitting return to action for Arsenal in the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on 27 September, according to reports.

The last image of Walcott in an Arsenal shirt was of him telling the Spurs' supporters the score while being carried off on a stretcher during the 2-0 FA Cup third round win back in January after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

He has since been sidelined for the past eight months, but The Mirror on Sunday have reported that the 25-year has stepped up his rehabilitation and is expected to feature against the Gunners' fierce rivals later on this month.

Following the Premier League match against Spurs, Arsenal face Galatasaray in the Champions League on 1 October and then Chelsea away on 5 October in a daunting week.

The Gunners are in action next against Manchester City on Saturday. Danny Welbeck is expected to make his Gunners debut in the game after completing his £16m move from Manchester United.
