Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor said he is pleased to be linked with a move to Barcelona, but maintans he is happy to stay put. "That pleases me," Adebayor said after playing for a Unicef team in a charity match in Seville. "It's very flattering for a young Togolese who is only 24 to see that Barcelona or Milan are following him. But for the moment I'm very happy at Arsenal. We'll see what happens next." Barça's Yaya Touré, meanwhile, said he would like to join his brother Kolo at Arsenal. "I am conscious of interest from certain Premier League clubs," he said. "I can't say anything at the moment, but it would be great to play for a big club with my brother."

Eto'o hints at Premier move

Samuel Eto'o's future at Barcelona has been questioned again following suggestions the striker is interested in a fresh challenge in the Premier League. Tottenham are believed to be monitoring Eto'o, who was jeered by Barça fans at the weekend for being suspended against Real Madrid in their previous match. "The Premiership is a top league, so to play there will be fantastic and a good challenge," he said. Spurs could be busy this summer and have already let goalkeeper Radek Cerny leave for Queen's Park Rangers, while Young-Pyo Lee is expected to join PSV Eindhoven.

Valente handed extended deal

Everton defender Nuno Valente has signed a contract extension to keep him at Goodison Park for a further year. Meanwhile, manager David Moyes has said that the reason Manuel Fernandes was allowed to return to Valencia after his loan was the £12m asking price. The ownership of Fernandes' playing rights by a third party also made a deal tricky.

Diane close to Magpies move

Paris St-Germain forward Amara Diane said he would jump at the chance to join Newcastle. Magpies manager Kevin Keegan was at the Parc des Princes for Saturday's 1-1 draw with St Etienne and Diane claims the two clubs have held talks over his future. "I know there is contact between them," said the Ivory Coast international.

Jewell takes a shine to Connolly

Derby manager Paul Jewell is hoping to make Plymouth right-back Paul Connolly his second new signing as he reshapes his squad for the Championship. The 24-year-old, who would be available for no fee at the end of his contract this summer, has already held talks with Jewell and undergone a medical at Pride Park. The Rams manager said: "Hopefully we can conclude a deal pretty quickly. He is keen to come and fits the bill as he is 6ft 1in, athletic and hungry."

* Yesterday's completed moves: Steve Thompson (Middlesbrough) to Port Vale, Undis; Dean Howell (Rushden & Diamonds) to Aldershot, Free.
