Steven Pienaar won Everton's player of the season award on Tuesday night and gave the news all Toffees fans have been waiting for: he wants to play a part in the team's future.

Pienaar, who has scored four league goals for Everton this season said: "Hopefully we can kick on from here to next season and the coming years. We have got the potential. The people behind the club really want it to happen and so do the players."

The South African is reportedly being watched by Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool amongst other clubs, but when asked if he wanted to be a part of any future successes at Goodison Park he simply replied: "For sure, why not?"

Everton have been in good form recently and will finish eighth in the league this season, but the 28 year-old was keen to stress that it was a team effort. "The whole team has been responsible for our play," he said.
