Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Look away now, Liverpool fans. Star man Philippe Coutinho has admitted that he finds it "hard" to deal with the cold weather in the winter months.
The Rio de Janeiro native, who can expect average temperatures of between 5C and 8C from November to March, has been one of Liverpool's better performers this season, scoring a winner on the opening day at Stoke and being a big miss when the Reds lost to Manchester United.
But like many players before him, the 23-year-old, who returned to the team for the 1-1 draw with Bordeaux, has admitted that the weather in the North West is difficult to deal with for those from warmer climes.
"It's hard. I'm still not totally used to it, and every time it's cold I find it really tough," he told BBC Football Focus.
"But it's getting better, and I'm making do as best I can."
Coutinho also admitted that he eats Brazilian cuisine rather than local delicacies.
"To be honest when I’m at home I still eat Brazilian food. My wife cooks Brazilian dishes, like Feijao with rice."
