From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Arsenal have not yet made an offer for Udinese defender Cristian Zapata, according to the player's agent.
The Colombia international is a reported target of the Gunners and is under contract with the Serie A outfit until June 2012.
"It's nice to hear that Arsenal are interested in the player," said Zapata's agent Massimo Italiani to calciomercato.com.
"For several years now, Zatapa has been linked to prestigious clubs and that means that he is doing things well.
"Several Italian clubs are also interested in Zapata but for the time being, I have not received any offers from Italy or England."
Italiani believes Zapata would be open to a move to the Premier League this summer.
"He is happy at Udinese but like any other player, he wants to improve and grow," said Italiani.
"If an offer from a big club arrives, then it will be taken into consideration.
"But for the time being there is nothing official, just rumours."
The 23-year-old joined Udinese in 2005 from Deportivo Cali.
The South American player made 29 league appearances for Udinese last season.
