Your support makes all the difference.José Mourinho has missed out on the Manager of the Month award for April after Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson was named the victor this morning.
The Chelsea manager secured his first Premier League title since 2006 after dropping just two points in the month before the decisive 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
But Pearson's achievements in the East Midlands are hard to ignore with Leicester climbing from the foot of the table - and almost certain relegation - up to the dizzy heights of 16th in just five weeks.
The Foxes boss also beat Everton's Roberto Martínez and Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger to the monthly prize.
He said: "I am flattered, it is very pleasing but of course it is not about it being one person.
"I am always very conscious of the support I get from the staff and players alike. It is nice to pick up awards but there is a bigger picture and I never forget that.
"It is important we pigeon hole that now and get back to what is really important and that is trying to get three points on Saturday."
Leicester's stunning form began with the 2-1 win over West Ham United on 4th April. Later collecting all three points from crucial clashes with West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City and Burnley, their only defeat in April came against Mourinho's champions.
Not even the bizarre episode which involved Pearson calling a reporter an 'ostrich' was enough to prevent the award panel from handing the former Southampton boss his first ever top flight managerial award.
While Mourinho may feel aggrieved to have missed out, having collected more points than Pearson and beaten his side at the King Power Stadium, few would take anything away from the Leicester boss.
When asked if he feared the next game 'hoodoo' which seems to strike every benefactor of the award, the Leicester manager was typically analytical.
"We have played since and won our first game (3-0 against Newcastle) in May," he said.
"Whether there is a trend with results I couldn’t really comment too much. How I work and how we prepare for games it certainly won’t affect.
"We recognise we are playing against a very good side and we will approach it in the same way as we have games recently. Hopefully we will get the result we want. It won’t have anything to do with anything else."
