Newcastle caretaker manager John Carver has made one change to his starting line-up with Massadio Haidara replacing Mike Williamson in the side to face Southampton in the Premier League.

The Magpies put in a good showing against Chelsea last weekend only to suffer a 2-0 defeat after they lost their concentration momentarily to allow Oscar in before Diego Costa completed the result.

Southampton were on FA Cup duty in midweek in the 1-0 victory over Ipswich in the third round replay at Portman Road, and manager Ronald Koeman makes two changes to the starting line-up.

Matt Targett drops to the bench with Steven Davis coming into the side, while Shane Long is replaced by new signing Eljero Elia returns to the side having made his debut in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.
