Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The controversial Italian striker signed for £16m from AC Milan last week, and made his debut for the club in the 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Only yesterday, the 24-year-old used his social media accounts to say how much he was enjoying being at Liverpool, saying he was looking forward to his Liverpool debut at Anfield in nine days time.
Shankly won three top-flight league titles, two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup during his 15 years in change of Liverpool between 1959 and 1974.
In the past, Balotelli has been accused of not being much of a team player, but this quote he shared today from Shankly states that he is now happy to put the team first.
Balotelli's Shankly quote he posted today:
Balotelli will make his Liverpool debut at Anfield next Saturday against the unbeaten Aston Villa.
