Rick Karsdorp, the Feyenoord right-back, is reportedly a target for Manchester United ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 21-year-old Netherlands international is apparently seen as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia by Jose Mourinho.

According to the Daily Mirror, Feyenoord will demand a fee within the region of £15m for a player who impressed during the Europa League meetings between the two sides earlier this season.

Fellow defender Victor Lindelof remains a target, with reports suggesting that United are ‘closing in’ on the 22-year-old.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic talked up the prospect of Lindelof arriving at Old Trafford last month and, according to the Mirror, a £34m offer has now been tabled.

Ed Woodward, United’s executive vice chairman, has been tasked with tempting Benfica to sell, but they may be reluctant given their upcoming Champions League last-16 tie with Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal may be in line for a return to management, seven months after leaving Old Trafford.

The former United manager is being linked with Paris Saint-Germain, given the uncertainty around Unai Emery’s future.

According to Telefoot, PSG’s director of football Patrick Kluivert has suggested his friend and former colleague as a replacement.
