Having emerged as a surprise saviour to United’s season in Wayne Rooney’s absence, Rashford has gone about cementing his status as a Premier League footballer ad has scored six goals in his first 11 appearances for the club – including a winner against Manchester City in last month’s derby.
But the 18-year-old may not have even been at United had he and his family made a different decision 11 years ago when Liverpool tried to sign the youngster to their academy.
According to members of his childhood club Fletcher Moss Rangers reported by the Daily Mail, the Reds attempted to sign Rashford only for the striker to turn down the deal in the hope that United would come calling.
Luckily for Rashford, United did spot his talents and signed him to their academy, with the forward following in the steps of former United players Wes Brown and Danny Welbeck in signing for the Premier League club having played for Fletcher Moss Rangers.
It’s also emerged that Rashford is yet to begin talks with the club over a new contract, given his current deal worth £1,500-a-week has just 14 months left to run.
