Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Camp Nou win would be greater than comeback against PSG

The uncertainty over Ander Herrera’s Manchester United future may have contributed to his current injury, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Herrera will miss United’s Premier League meeting with West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday with a thigh problem that he suffered in training earlier this week.

The 29-year-old is expected to leave United this summer when his contract expires, having reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Solskjaer claimed talks between United and Herrera are still “ongoing” on Friday, adding that he would miss United’s next three fixtures through injury.

“Maybe the future might have been worrying him and that’s part of the reason he’s injured,” Solskjaer said. “Who knows?

“Hopefully he can be available for Chelsea or City but I’m not sure. He got another muscle injury.

“He’s been working really hard to get fit from his injury he sustained against Liverpool then he came back and got a different one here in training.

“He’s been putting a lot of work in and that’s come at a time, as you say, there are contract talks.

“But that’s ongoing, I can’t really comment too much on how far they are down the line.”
