Manchester United could make a shock move for Micah Richards according to a report today.

According to today's Mirror, Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to swoop for the unsettled Manchester City defender.

Richards has fallen out of favour at Eastlands due to a combination of competition for places and some erratic performances.

It is also understood that his relationship with Mark Hughes is strained, leading to speculation that he could leave, possibly as early as January.

Should the 21-year-old, who has 12 England caps, become available it is understood that United would enter the bidding.
