Jürgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno could be sidelined for up to six weeks with his current ankle injury.
Moreno was forced to leave the field at the close of the first half during last Wednesday's 7-0 Champions League victory over Spartak Moscow.
The Spaniard has established himself as Klopp's first-choice left-back this season after a year in the wilderness last term but understudy Andrew Robertson may now be set for an extended spell in the side.
Liverpool are still waiting to learn the full extent of Moreno's problem, though the 25-year-old is certainly unavailable for Wednesday's meeting with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield.
“Not ready for sure, no chance,” Klopp said when asked whether Moreno could potentially return for West Bromwich's visit. “We make further assessments, send him to different doctors to be sure.”
“It's really not decided so far. It's still possible that it's not that long, still possible that it's six weeks. We have to see. It's really not decided so far.”
Adam Lallana and Joel Matip will also be unavailable, though both are on their way to recovering from respective thigh and muscle injuries.
“Adam is back in training completely normal but he has to build up again,” Klopp said.
“We need him for the next weeks but we should not need him for tomorrow. Step-by-step we need to see how we can bring him in match fit.
The Liverpool manager added: “Joel is not in training. He is running but not more so that means it takes a little bit longer.”
