From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has travelled to the United States of America to see a specialist about his heel problem.
The 25-year-old picked up the injury in the club's 1-0 victory over Bournemouth earlier this season and has missed his side's last three fixtures.
Henderson is reportedly desperate to return to action as soon as possible and was expected to return after the international break, but the club remain pessimistic over the midfielder's chances and now expect him to be out for an extended period.
No concrete return date has been set and Liverpool hope that the trip to a New Jersey-based orthopaedic specialist Dr James Cazzarelli will put a timescale on the injury.
The club also insist that the midfielder is not due to undergo surgery during his time in America.
Liverpool have not won since Henderson picked up his injury and have taken just one point from a possible nine.
A creditable draw against Arsenal at the Emirates in their first game without their captain was followed by lacklustre defeats to West Ham and Manchester United.
Adam Lallana, however, is expected to be available for selection again following his recovery from a thigh problem.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been unable to select the former Southampton playmaker since the Bournemouth game but Lallana could feature in the Europa League against Bordeaux on Thursday night.
