Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool: Brendan Rodgers favourite for sack, Dietmar Hamann says Klopp is 'perfect' replacement
Current Reds manager under renewed pressure following defeat to Manchester United
Jurgen Klopp is the favourite with bookmakers to replace Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool, and according to former Anfield favourite Dietmar Hamann, the former Borussia Dortmund manager would be "perfect" for the role.
Rodgers is under renewed pressure following his side's 3-1 defeat to bitter rivals Manchester United at the weekend.
The result left Liverpool on seven points from five games and their fans fearing it could be another season of frustration despite much investment in the squad.
Bookmakers have made Rodgers the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to get the sack, ahead of Dick Advocaat whose Sunderland team are rooted to the bottom of the table.
Should the Northern Irishman depart, out-of-work Klopp would be heavily favoured to replace him.
According to former Liverpool midfielder Hamann, the ex-Borussia Dortmund coach would be an excellent appointment.
"This discussion has already been going on for a long time and in Liverpool, the pressure has increased again," Hamann told Sky.
"The question is whether Jurgen Klopp would join Liverpool during the season. Had they asked him before the season, I would have been 99 per cent certain that he goes there."
Hamann continued: "Many people say he will appear in Munich (Bayern) on July 1, but I don't know where he would fit in. I think at Liverpool he would fit perfectly."
