The German coach has been locked in talks with the Anfield club following the dismissal on Sunday of Brendan Rodgers.
Klopp is expected to arrive on Merseyside this afternoon to thrash out the final details of the deal before putting pen to paper on what is expected to be a three-year deal.
It's understood that Klopp is keen to bring former assistants Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz with him to Anfield as coaches.
Liverpool quickly made Klopp their number one target, although Carlo Ancelotti has featured in discussions held by the club's Fenway Sports Group owners.
Ancelotti, who like Klopp is also out of work, appeared to rule himself out earlier this week when he said: "I want to take my time to rest, but next season I am ready."
Should the deal for Klopp not be finalised today, it's expected the deal will definitely go through on Friday.
